Salt Lake City and Dallas Auditions Season 4, Episode 2

Hi all. Thanks for all your great comments. Once again, I'm keeping this short. No, I'm not still on vacation but as there are many bad dancers I refuse to name or critique, there will be a bit less for me to discuss. Is it just me or did the judges seem nicer is Salt Lake City on day one? I thought they were pretty respectful and not unduly harsh. Day two brings some harsher criticism but I was so proud of them for keeping it cordial for that long. Also, how much did you enjoy guest judge Mandy Moore? First of all, I really enjoyed her choreography from last year. Second, I love the name. What? I admit that I'm a fan of another Mandy Moore. Third, I liked how much she got into the dancers she really liked. Some of my favorites: Chelsie Hightower (ballroom), Gev Manoukian (breaker), Matt Dorame (ballet), and Kelli Baker (contemporary). I do feel the need to devote a little more space to Kelli. I thought she moved beautifully and I'm going to go out on a limb to say she'll end up in our top 20. I agree with Nigel when he calls her "tremendous." I think she's probably hardest on herself when it comes to her dancing because she feels she's got something to prove being the daughter of famous choreographer Bonnie Story. But if Kelli being hard on herself led to the performance we saw tonight, she needs to keep it up. This level of dancing is what I want to see from our top 20 dancers. In Dallas, Adam Shankman is our guest judge and we can always rely on him to be pretty brutal. Period. Man. (You know who I'm talking about but I'm sticking to my rule.) I enjoyed Joshua Allen (popper) and Arielle Coker (modern/contemporary). Hmm, I guess I don't have too much more to say about Dallas as I didn't take that many notes. I took a lot more notes on our Salt Lake City dancers. Was there anyone else from Dallas or from Salt Lake City that you liked? Oh, I almost forgot. I saw this piece on the show in today's Los Angeles Times. I found it very interesting. Until tomorrow. show less
