The group dance is a Broadway piece choreographed by Tyce DiOrio. I probably enjoyed this more than I usually enjoy Broadway numbers. I really don't know what my problem is with this style; it just doesn't do it for me. The only Broadway piece I remember from any year of this show is the one Sabra danced last year. I can't even remember who her partner was, but Sabra brought something wonderful to it and that performance has stayed with me. And as a bonus we see just how nasty Tyce can get when subjected to one bad audition after another. Ouch.
And who is in our bottom three? Let's get to the results:
Kherington and Twitch Safe
Katee & Joshua Safe. Cat totally faked me out and I almost had a heart attack. If either of these two couples would have landed in the bottom three I'm not really sure what I would have done. There may have been some sort of extreme protest.
Kourtni & Matt dancing for their lives. Neither one of their performances were good enough last night so I'm not surprised.
Courtney & Gev dancing for their lives. I really like these two but I did feel that the other couples were stronger in their performances.
Mark & Chelsie Safe. I just love them.
Jessica & Will Safe. I know I'm not shy about saying Jessica isn't as strong as Will but let me reiterate how much I enjoyed their lyrical jazz piece last night. Despite just a few sour notes by Jessica, they were both very strong.
Comfort & Thayne dancing for their lives. No surprise.
Our featured dancer this week is the phenomenal Robert Muraine. I don't think words can express how amazing this guy is. Check
this out. Did you watch it? I'd say it's possible he's triple or quadruple jointed. He can move his body is any way he wants. Amazing. I would have preferred to have Nigel talk a lot less sh*t to and about Robert. This competition isn't about you Nigel! I am, however, looking to a possible battle between Robert and
Philip Chbeeb. If and when it happens I know it will be amazing.
Kourtni I think she's always pretty amazing in her solo. She goes out and attacks it but after last night's poor performances I'm not sure she's earned back my vote.
Matt His technique, as always, is impeccable. I think he's finally allowing his personality to come out. Will it be enough? Is it too little too late?
Courtney She's such a great little spitfire. She dances with passion and precision. I really like her piece.
Gev He simply amazes me. His solo is fun and really shows his skill level and personality. It is a treat to see his solo tonight.
Comfort I love her but I don't know if I love her solo. I was distracted by what appeared to be her constantly pulling up her pants. I know she isn't actually doing that but it really cuts down on my enjoyment of her dancing.
Thayne I think he's always strong in his solo. He seemed to be doing something a little different with it tonight and I'm really enjoying that.
So who is going home?
Nigel tells us how tough it was to come to a decision. He really cares about these contestants and he'll be very glad when the public takes over and has sole responsibility for sending someone home. That being said, let's get to it.
Courtney She's always risen to the occasion and done what the choreographers asked of her. She's safe.
Comfort They've watched her grow throughout the competition and they think she did a good job the night before. Nigel doesn't think she's strong enough but the others do. She's safe. Which means
Kourtni will be leaving tonight. She's grateful for the opportunity and could go on for hours thanking everyone. She's excited to see where she'll go from here.
Gev It's the first time we've seen him do his thing. It's fantastic. He's safe.
Matt He came in at such a high level and hasn't grown. He's going home which means
Thayne is safe.
Matt enjoyed performing on stage and he thinks this group of dancers is fabulous.
I am sad to see Kourtni and Matt go home but I think it was their time. They put up a good fight but in the end they just couldn't master enough different genres. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on these two.
What did you think? Did the judges send the right two people home?
Until next week. Happy 4th!
