Critiques of recently released and upcoming movies were originally offered by Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert on this Chicago-based show, which for a time was the highest-rated half-hour series in PBS history. In 1982, when the two left `Sneak Previews' to host a syndicated film-review program, PBS's attempts to rekindle their chemistry with other hosts fell short. One remodeled version, which lasted from 1989 to '91, focused solely on home videos and was titled `Sneak Previews Goes Video.'
