  • Mega Buzz on Grey's, Smallville, CSI: Miami & More | Today's News: Our Take | 7/2/2008
Senior editors Matt Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor field your burning questions! Can you give me some info on Grey's? Maybe a little hope for my favorite couple, Alex and Izzie? — DanielleMatt: The ink is barely dry on the production draft of the season opener, and while I have no tasty bone to throw Alex-Izzie fans, I can share this: This year's Grey's premiere is two hours of goodness, written by (of course) series creator Shonda Rhimes herself.I am stumped as to why there has been nothing... read more
  • Battlestar Alum Brings Doomsday to Smallville | Today's News: Our Take | 6/20/2008
If I've been reading (and re-reading, and re-re-reading...) my sons' D.C. Comics Encyclopedia correctly every night at bedtime, this should be one very neat trick. With Lex Luthor quietly exiting stage right, no less than Doomsday is coming to Smallville. Though the CW's official announcement dare not actually utter the big guy's alias, Sam Witwer — whom Battlestar Galactica fans may remember as Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo — will fill the role of Davis Bloome.Doomsday, of course, is... read more
  • Mega Buzz on Smallville, NCIS, Vegas and More! | Today's News: Our Take | 6/11/2008
Thank you all for the outstanding response and terrific questions. On with this week's buzz! Lois fans from Smallville have one request: Throw us a freakin' bone here! Please tell us she will finally be in every episode in Season 8. — LukeMatt Mitovich: Would that I could, Luke (and the scores of others seeking such assurance). But at this point I am hearing that Erica Durance's sitch remains "the same as always" — that is, she'll do 13 or so episodes — though there is a slight... read more

Next week, and just in time for Father's Day (Sunday, June 15th), Wal-Mart is making it much easier to afford a high-definition Blu-ray player! The original standard DVD format went on sale in the United States back in 1997, and consumers quickly shifted over to the new format from VHS. • Do you know if Smallville ... | Matt Roush | 5/26/2008
Question: Do you know if Smallville will have the full 22 episodes next season? Everyone is saying that Reaper will take over in January when Smallville concludes. Will it only have 13episodes? 22 with limited repeats? Answer: I am assured by the CW that both Smallville and Supernatural got full 22-episode renewals. How Reaper's midseason pickup fits into this scheme, and how or when it will be scheduled, remains to be seen. A lot has to do with whether Reaper will be called into action... read more

  • Smallville Exclusive: Kara's Future Is Up, Up in the Air | Today's News: Our Take | 5/16/2008
A new development tempers the good news about Allison Mack re-signing, which itself improved the mood after Michael Rosenbaum's Smallvile departure was confirmed: Laura Vandervoort's status as Kara is as up-in-the-air as, well, Supergirl in flight. As fans noticed in the CW's upfronts announcement earlier this week, "They announced the cast... and I'm not a part of it," Vandervoort tells me, letting out a self-effacing laugh. "We were all surprised when they chose not to bring me back as a... read more

  • Super Exclusive Smallville News: Chloe's Staying! | Today's News: Our Take | 5/15/2008
Smallville fans, consider this bullet officially dodged: Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that after weeks of tense negotiations, Allison Mack has sealed a deal to return next season as a series regular![The crowd roars]Although the specifics of the new contract -- which was signed just hours ago -- are being kept under wraps, I'm told it calls for Mack to appear in all episodes produced next season. • The Joy of Sets: What Superhero Do You Heart The Most? | DVD News | 5/14/2008
OK, first off, to all of you who chimed in last week. I just assumed we all accepted Dynasty’s Alexis Carrington as the #1 bitch of all time. That sort of stuff should just be understood from here on out. It’s like, who is the #1 villain? JR Ewing. No-brainer. But this week, I offer you a real challenge. With the sort-of-unexpected monster hit-dom of “Iron Man” in the theatres and this week’s DVD release of the TV movies The Incredible Hulk Returns/The Trial of the... read more

  • Any additional info on the ... | Today's News: Our Take | 5/14/2008
Question: Any additional info on the casting of Doomsday or the new female villain on Smallville?  Answer: As luck would have it, the official casting breakdowns went out last week, and here are the highlights: Doomsday• Real name: Davis Bloome • He's in his mid-20s. • He works as a bartender at the hip new Metropolis lounge Ace of Clubs (get it?). • He plays down his smoldering good looks with a self-effacing wit and down-to-earth soulfulness. But he has long felt... read more
  • I read your story about ... | Today's News: Our Take | 5/14/2008
Question: I read your story about Allison Mack possibly not re-signing for Smallville next season. What's the latest? Answer: Talks are still at a stand-still. That's the bad news. The good news is that production doesn't resume until July, so the situation isn’t all that dire… yet. One Smallville insider speculates that Mack may ultimately take a page from co-star Kristin Kreuk's book and return for only a handful of episodes. It's not ideal, but it certainly beats the alternative: no Chloe at... read more

  • The news of Michael Rosenbaum ... | Matt Roush | 5/9/2008
Question: The news of Michael Rosenbaum leaving Smallville after the current season ends is sad. He was the best portrayal of Lex Luthor (no offense to the others who have played him) and will be sorely missed. However, in that same announcement, we learned that Doomsday, infamous for killing Superman in the comics, will appear next season. Surprisingly, looking through the comments on the article, there was a geniune amount of hate, both towards bringing in Doomsday and for getting rid of the... read more

  • Exclusive: Smallville's Big Chloe Problem | Today's News: Our Take | 5/8/2008
It looks like Smallville's about to take another, potentially lethal, hit.Just a week after it was announced that Michael Rosenbaum would not be returning full time as Lex next season, sources confirm to me exclusively that Allison Mack, arguably Smallville's most popular heroine, may be the next to go. This marks quite a turnaround from a few months ago, when I deemed Mack a lock to come back next season. And I wasn't the only one. Although a deal wasn't signed at the time, Smallville insiders... read more

Shut away in his loft, Clark is studying the latest of Kara's future-past Kryptonian messages. Krypton is on the verge on destruction and Brainiac is going to prevent Clark from ever being sent to earth. Despite Chloe's protestations, Clark is willing to let this happen.“All I've brought is death and suffering...meteor freaks, phantoms, Brainiac. I'm taking responsibility for all the lives I've ruined.”“This planet would be better off if I never existed.”At this point, it's... read more

Premise: Superman's teen years as Clark Kent find him agonizing over his shy, uncertain persona while dealing with his evolving powers and an infatuation with classmate Lana Lang. Crisply paced and cast with appealing performers, `Smallville' is not at all campy and is often surprisingly moving as a conventional coming-of-age drama; it succeeds in adding creative twists to the young hero's life without compromising the adult pop icon's legend.
