Showtime at the Apollo

Crowds react to amateur performances at the venerable New York theater. Although the formats are basically the same, this new series shouldn't be confused with `It's Showtime at the Apollo,' which changed its name to `Showtime in Harlem' before being canceled in 2003. Comedienne Mo'Nique, who got her TV break in 1989 on `It's Showtime at the Apollo,' hosts the program.
