Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex and the City
Even Carrie Bradshaw isn't immune to the economic crisis.
The Big Apple's most famous fashionista is returning to the big screen in a Sex and the City movie sequel, but her high-end gear most likely won't be joining her given today's recessionary times.
"There is a lot that we have to think about because times are very different. So these are nice challenges, these are ...

Candace Bushnell by Jim Spellman/ WireImage.com
Look out Gossip Girl New York's original sexy lady is moving onto your turf.Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell has signed on to write two Carrie Bradshaw novels targeted to young adults, Variety reports. The novels will be set during Carrie's high school years, and HarperCollins Chilrdren's Bray and Bray imprint will begin publishing in the fall of 2010. Bushnell said in a statement that she's "always been interested in exploring Carrie's teenage years, because she claims that's when Carrie "began observing and commenting on the social scene."The news comes a week before the DVD release of the feature-length Sex and the City movie based on HBO's series. The flick earned $152.6 million at the box office and talk of a sequel is rampant. Though there's no word on whether younger versions of Carrie's friends will make an appearance in the books, we could totally picture slutty cheerleader Samantha, debate team captain Miranda and goody-goody student body president Cha...

Kristin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Cynthia Nixon, Sex and the City: The Movie
Question: Given the fact that you spent a good six years reviewing Sex and the City the TV series, I was curious to hear what your thoughts were on Sex and the City: The Movie. Seems to me, you — and not necessarily the TV Guide movie critics — would've been the ideal person to review it for the magazine. I seem to remember you thinking the series concluded in a mature, satisfying way and that you even recommended that future retiring series — like Frasier, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond — attempt to emulate SATC's dignified exit. So what did you think of the movie? Do you think it lived up to the promise of the series, or did it muddy the legacy of the series' classy exit? What should future shows looking to transition to the big screen take from this movie's execution? Are there any other shows, concluded or currently running, that you'd like to see make the leap with the original cast? And what do you think the prospects are for the next TV sequel: The X-Files: I Want to ...

Sarah Jessica Parker by Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage.com, Lauren Davis Santo Domingo and Olivier Theyskens by Jamie McCarthy/ WireImage.com
By now, the image of Sarah Jessica Parker in her flowing, silver Nina Ricci gown at the Sex and the City premiere has circulated through just about every media outlet around the globe. Yet, despite how glam the actress looked, she's now suffering morning-after headaches about the dress's exclusivity, and feels duped by the fashion house that provided it for her big night. The dress, as it turns out, had been worn before(!). To make matters worse, the dress' designer, Olivier Theyskens, accompanied the frock for its first outing, on socialite Lauren Davis Santo Domingo, earlier in May. A photo of them together on a red carpet has been on Style.com.Parker told the New York Times that Theyskens assured her that the dress had not been worn before. While she noted that dress issues are not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, the relationship between Hollywood and fashion is serious business. "My affection for the dress hasn't changed," she explained, "but what they did was so shor...

HBO has hired a top TV talent agent to help find the pay cable networks next big hit. Sue Naegle, most recently a partner and co-head of the television department at United Talent Agency, is taking the job as president of HBO Entertainment and will oversee all series programming and specials. As an agent, Naegle put together the deal for Six Feet Under (one of HBOs most acclaimed hits) and also brought the network its upcoming Southern vampire series, True Blood. Naegle replaces longtime HBO exec Carolyn Strauss, who left the network. While HBO has remained enormously profitable, it hasnt generated the kind of buzzworthy hits that viewers have come to expect from the network that brought them The Sopranos and Sex and the City. Roses are played, violets are lameSex and the City, you are my dame.In the 10 years since HBOs landmark ode to Manhattans Manolo Blahniked man-eaters debuted, Ive quit drinking, smoking and shoe shopping (almost). Im far from Amish, but still, Carrie and company would be so ashamed of me. The one indulgence I refuse to give up, however, is my raging addiction to TVs ultimate four-play.And thanks to the gigantic, pink-velvet encased Sex and the City: The Complete Series, I can now count on endless DVD booty calls. In fact, just this past weekend, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and I all had a good old time. Twice. Yep, two seasons in three days. How I didnt spontaneously develop a vagina is a mystery, considering the sheer amount of girl power popping off the screen. Yet, going back to the beginning, I was reminded that Sexs sexies werent always so up-with-estrogen! The pilot is a much darke...

Andrew McCarthy by Nicole Rivelli/NBC
Jeers to Lipstick Jungle for miscasting Andrew McCarthy as Joe Bennett, the billionaire who romances fashion designer Victory Ford (Lindsay Price). In Sex and the City scribe Candace Bushnells excruciatingly self-derivative new NBC dramedy, Mr. Bennett seems like a Mr. Big wannabe. But with his diffident, charisma-free performance, ex-Brat Packer McCarthy (Pretty in Pink) seems more like Mr. Medium-Size.
