Has Sesame Street become more gay-friendly?
In recent months, the long-running children's program has seen openly gay stars Wanda Sykes and Neil Patrick Harris on the show, spoofed the gay-friendly True Blood, and featured a will.i.am performance of "What I Am," a tune about accepting who you really are, which triggered Internet speculation about its message.

That followed a June 11 tweet from Bert — who, along with roommate Ernie, has long been suspected by fans to be gay — that read: "Ever notice how similar my hair is to Mr. T's? The only difference ...
The Old Spice commercial that made Isaiah Mustafa a household name has even made its way to Sesame Street.
VIDEO: Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa in our studio, not on a horse
In a new parody of the viral hit, Sesame Street's Grover urges viewers to "Smell Like a Monster," all in an effort to teach kids the word "on." The clip features Grover on a boat and, similar to the original commercial, it ends with Grover on a horse, er, cow.
Mustafa was quite pleased with Sesame Street's spin. ""Thank you @sesamestreet!!" he tweeted. "Thanks to Grover, Haley Mustafa finally thinks dad is kinda cool :)"

Sesame Street producer Carol-Lynne Parente said she had no idea a clip from the show featuring Katy Perry in a low-cut shirt would draw so much criticism, and defended the pop singer's appearance.
"We would never produce anything we thought was inappropriate. We were surprised not only by the amount of feedback, but how...
This week's column is dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Ida Blankenship, Don Draper's hilariously cantankerous executive secretary on Mad Men who died at her desk, "like she lived, surrounded by the people she answers phones for," according to Roger Sterling's snarky instant eulogy. Her former swain/boss Bert Cooper saw a bigger, more admiring picture: "She was born in 1898 in a barn, she died on the 37th floor of a skyscraper. She's an astronaut." Also, according to Roger's apparently unpublishable memoirs, a one-time "queen of perversions." Randee Heller's spot-on performance of this old-school gatekeeper, a relic of a time before feminism was on anyone's radar...
House, Katy Perry
This week, TV had a case of mistaken identity. On Law & Order: SVU, Joan Cusack played a grieving mother who of course also appeared to be the suspect. Cougar Town's Jules found a new therapist with serious truth issues. Olivia's evil twin made a pass at her unrequited love on Fringe. Sesame Street forgot that Katy Perry is a scantily clad pop star. Joaquin Phoenix revealed that he is, in fact, an actor and not the subject of a documentary. And the cranky doc on House let it slip that he's actually a big old softie. Welcome to Top Moments: Mistaken Identity Edition.
Katy Perry is too sexy for Sesame Street.
Sesame Workshop, the production company behind PBS' children's show, has pulled a Katy Perry music video that was scheduled to air on the 41st season after receiving complaints about the singer's cleavage in the clip.
