Emmy-winning producer of The Bold and the Beautiful and Sesame Street's The Children's Television Workshop, Ron Weaver, died Thursday at age 75 in Los Angeles.
Weaver began with the soap, , a sister show to The Young and the Restless, when it started in 1987 and only left the show weeks ago in April after 27 years. He won three daytime Emmys for overseeing thousands of episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, which follows the rich Californian Forresters family and is the most watched soap opera in the world.

Who doesn't love free stuff? Comic book fans — and those who'd like to be — can pick up free samples on Saturday during the 12th annual Free Comic Book Day. The event, which will be hosted at over 2,000 comic book shops across the country, features dozens of special limited editions including Superman, Star Wars, Archie and The Smurfs. More than four and a half million copies are expected to be distributed during the day, which aims to introduce newcomers to the genre.

The Young and the Restless scored 23 nominations, helping CBS to become the most-nominated network this year with 50 total nods. PBS, which broadcasts Sesame Street, was right behind with 44.
