I can't believe I'm saying it, but how sweet is Kelso? We've always known about his war buddy whose name is tattooed on his unmentionables. And we know he's come to accept and eventually embrace his son's lifestyle. He has even softened his view on his wife over the years. But tonight was the icing on the cake. I'm not sure who this Maggie lady is (does anyone know, or am I missing something?), but his desire to treat her despite her lack of insurance is so un-Kelso, I'm left a bit speechless. Add to the mix that his way of helping her forced him to give into the scrub-thieving hospital staff, well that's just downright touching. I also liked that we got to see a little bit more of Kelso outside the hospital, which doesn't happen too often. Enid's lunches of a stapler and a golf ball, and tuna fish on a sponge, were so charming. It leaves me torn over whether I'd ever want to meet her because I'm not sure she could live up to her own legend.
Of course, all this Kelso sweetness didn't last forever. What the heck is a Shanghai Surprise? I guess I can't surmise too much as this is a family website (
ahem), but I'm just wondering how long it can be called a surprise if you're a repeat customer. I think it needs a more suitable name, but, again, family website.
And speaking of families, I'm so glad Turk, J.D. and Rowdy got to add Steven to their family! I really missed Rowdy. And kudos, as always, to the writers for being able to bring so much life and personality to a dead dog. Seriously. I realize that has a lot to do with how much Turk and J.D. adore him, but still, when Rowdy first rolled across the screen, I was happy. Nothing is better than seeing a dog cause trouble, especially when it involves Ted. It was also great that Carla came clean at the end and was able to accept Steven into her ever-growing family.
That is, of course, unless the janitor has his way. You can't tell me there's any scarier sentence in the world than, "Hey, small favor... I need your baby." I know this guy is kooky, but what could he possibly need with a child? Yes, he mentioned the black market, but I'm not sure I buy it. I think suddenly all those years of mercilessly picking on J.D. and carrying around stuffed animal corpses are starting to add up to a scary combination in my mind. Maybe the barista at "Coffebucks" has the right idea. Hmmm....
Other thoughts:
-There needs to be a book of all of Todd's fives. Tonight's "Something Might Be Wrong Five" is right up there with his "Betrayal Five."
-Elliot remembered that Cox hasn't complimented her in six years. But she's not starving for his affection
at all.
-"Laverne Roberts!" I'm going to try that out at my next kickboxing class.
-I don't know how after all these years he still pulls it off, but J.D.'s sneak hug was so adorable I almost can't stand it.
-The brown scrubs scarily remind me of my California Raisin Halloween costume from my childhood. But that's another story all together.
