In this episode, host Alan Alda meets Paul MacCready, who designed and built a pedal-powered flying machine (he called it the “Gossamer Condor”) in the 1970s. The two fly together in a number of aircraft. The hour also explores the evolution of natural flight, beginning some 300 million years ago, when insects first grew wings.
