Saturday Night Live Episode Recap: "Paul Rudd Hosts, Beyonce Performs" Season 34, Episode 8

Paul Rudd is a funny guy, and if you've seen Role Models, The 40-Year-Old Virgin or Wet Hot American Summer, you know he's extremely capable of making fun of himself for laughs; whether it's by playing a total a-hole, a loser-in-love or by donning hideous cutoffs and a mustache. His other comedic forte is his deadpan mockery of the constant dumbasses his characters come across — including SmartTech manager in Virgin and whack-job community service manager in Role Models both played by the hilarious Jane Lynch. Unfortunately, none of those talents were really used during his guest host stint Saturday Night Live. Best go see Role Models instead. There were a few choice moments throughout the show, and many of them revolved around a surprise guest! More after the jump! read more

Saturday Night Live Episode Recap: "Jon Hamm Hosts, Coldplay Performs" Season 34, Episode 6

Congrats to Amy Poehler who had her baby earlier on Saturday! While there wasn't an appearance by Tina Fey or Sarah Palin or Obama, we still had many a fun surprise this week. As previously reported, Maya Rudolph played Michelle Obama, and two Mad Men favorites appeared in a sketch as well. I have to admit, I thought this week was going to be a mess, but Jon Hamm really delivered! Now on to the show...

Saturday Night Live: Josh Brolin Hosts, Adele Performs Season 34, Episode 5

Aw, yeah. Are you ready for the most anticipated episode of SNL since …since …well, I have no idea when, but this mother is gonna rock our worlds (Using the power of positive thinking there). Tina Fey played Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin played Sarah Palin but Josh Brolin, who is here promoting his new movie W., did not play the president in any of his sketches (save a few moments in the monologue. In other news, Amy Poehler may give birth on stage. The last part is just a guess considering the woman never stops working and I feel like she's been pregnant for a year...

After the much buzzed premiere featuring Tina Feys dead-on impersonation of Sarah Palin will SNL be able to top themselves this week Not even close Cameron Diaz did make a cameo appearance but I think the only way to top Feys Palin would be to have Palin herself on the show Cold OpeningDarrell Hammond reprises his role as John McCain who is at a recording session for TV campaign ads Bill Hader plays a voice over artist with a gift for sarcastic tones The campaign ads are completely over the top and McCain asks if the facts in the ads are true Kristen Wiig plays an adviser who spins the facts to make McCain Approve of this message Besides Haders sarcastic voice this opening falls flatter than a pancake I get where they were going with it but they couldnt drive it home MonologueOooh James Franco is looking good He talks about moving to NYC to attend Columbia but just as a student not the movie star wink wink Jason Sudeikis comes out as his R read more

Premise: Landmark, Emmy-winning satire from an ever-changing company of 'Not Ready for Prime Time Players' who rode the variety show to fame, including (to name just a few of its celebrated grads) Eddie Murphy, Dana Carvey, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Al Franken and Mike Myers. From its debut, with Andy Kaufman's memorably bizarre rendition of the 'Mighty Mouse' theme, through John Belushi's Samurai and Gilda Radner's Roseanne Roseannadanna, 'SNL' forever changed the landscape of TV comedy.
