Paul Rudd is a funny guy, and if you've seen Role Models, The 40-Year-Old Virgin or Wet Hot American Summer, you know he's extremely capable of making fun of himself for laughs; whether it's by playing a total a-hole, a loser-in-love or by donning hideous cutoffs and a mustache. His other comedic forte is his deadpan mockery of the constant dumbasses his characters come across — including SmartTech manager in Virgin and whack-job community service manager in Role Models both played by the hilarious Jane Lynch. Unfortunately, none of those talents were really used during his guest host stint Saturday Night Live. Best go see Role Models instead. There were a few choice moments throughout the show, and many of them revolved around a surprise guest!
Now that the election is over, the SNL recaps will be short and sweet unless they are extraordinarily special. Tonight was not special, but one of their surprise cameos was! JT was in the house! That's right, Justin Timberlake helped to pick up a very lackluster show (save the first skit about the too-affectionate family, and the erectile dysfunction advertisement for "Sproingo") by crashing Seth Meyer's Weekend Update. He told the wildly cheering audience that he was supposed to host the pre-Thanksgiving episode, but then had to drop out. So, he decided to take everyone through a 2-minute version of what would have been his performance. It's too good to describe, so please watch the video here and enjoy.
JT also made an unforgettable cameo as one of Beyoncé's black leotard-clad back up dancers.
I officially weep for next week, knowing JT could have been our host, and instead we'll have Tim McGraw. Yeah. Let's hope I'm wrong and he's hilarious.
What did you think of the show? Are you still scarred from Samberg and Armisen's "kiss?"
