No Real World alum has had a more lasting impact than San Francisco cast member Pedro Zamora (1972-94), one of the first openly gay HIV-positive men to appear on national television. After being diagnosed with the disease at age 17, he dedicated the rest of his entirely too-short life raising AIDS awareness among young people. Fox and Reno 911's Niecy Nash to Open Inn

Niecy Nash by Maury Phillips/WireImage.com

Fox is all-in when it comes to The Inn, a comedy pilot it awarded a green light on Tuesday.Originally picked up late last year, the series stars Reno 911's Niecy Nash, was penned by Arrested Development's Abraham Higginbotham, and is described as "Upstairs/Downstairs set at a hip New York hotel."Um, a hip New York hotel described as The Inn? The only inn I know around here is Ye Olde Waverly — and I'm pretty sure it's a pub. — MWM read more

Reno 911! by Darren Michaels/Comedy Central

Reno 911’s Finest Are on the JobThese guys bring a whole new meaning to the phrase “to serve and protect.” The cracked-out officers of Washoe County Sheriff's Department keep us laughing non-stop (especially the sexually ambiguous Lieutenant who has a thing for wearing short-shorts). And good news for you, a whole new season of new episodes begins tonight on Comedy Central. Hey, they must be doing something right if they got a movie deal out of it. Watch it now! | More online videosDysfunctional Clown Family on Wife Swap? Reno 911!'s Thomas Lennon Makes Us Feel Dirty

Thomas Lennon, Reno 911!

It's been well over a decade since MTV's cult hit The State left the air, but the cast members have more than made good on the promise of the surreal sketch comedy. One of the many successful projects that followed The State is Comedy Central's Reno 911!, which begins its fifth season tonight (10:30 pm/ET). TVGuide.com recently looked back on Reno's run with star Thomas Lennon, who created the series with fellow State alums Robert Ben Garant and Kerri Kenney-Silver. TVGuide.com: What keeps the Reno deputies coming back for more?Thomas Lennon: Good lord, we all wonder that. Why on earth has this show lasted for five seasons? Your guess is as good as mine. TVGuide.com: Fine. I guess you guys are just doing it for the money at this point.Lennon: Exactly. It is just for the cold, read more

Reno 911! Makes for Arresting Comedy

Reno 911! by Michael Yarish/Comedy Central

The when: Wednesdays at 10:30 pm/ET, with Season 5 premiering Jan. 16, on Comedy Central. Why watch?: If you already think COPS is funny, check out this spoof that shows us what police officers' lives might look like if they also happened to be sketch actors with brilliant comedic timing. The bumbling-police-squad show has covered all the ground you'd expect from a faux TV cop doc — from slippery criminals to DUIs — without resorting to the tired gags of its Police Academy cousin. Thankfully not based on real events, these officers interpret the law the best way they know how: poorly. All the more fun for us! While the squad succeeds more at getting into mischief with perps like roller-skating male prostitutes than getting them into handcuffs, therein lies the show's charm — no matter how much respect you have for real officers, it's always fun to see fake ones really muck things up. Who's who: Lt. Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon; see our brand-new Q&A), the head law e... read more

Premise: The adventures of inept officers at the Washoe County Sheriff's Department play out in this improvised series, which pokes fun at police reality shows. Led by the sexually ambiguous Jim Dangle, who likes to wear short shorts, his officers include the morose, medicated Trudy Wiegel, sexpot Clementine Johnson and quiet but quick-tempered Travis Junior. Originally created for the Fox network, the series lay dormant for two years before Comedy Central picked it up.
