Raising the Bar Episode Recap: "Bobbi Ba-Bing" Season 2, Episode 11

This week, Jerry defends a man who stabbed a fellow inmate and Richard works with a new PD, Ashley, defending a homeless man arrested for panhandling. But the overly enthusiastic Ashley finds constitutional grounds for dismissing the case and hopes to follow that up with a class action lawsuit against the city. Oh, and things finally get steamy between Bobbi and Jerry! (At last!)

The episode begins with Jerry's client, Mr. Obassi, telling Jerry that he was sentenced to jail time on a bogus robbery, and that the bloods would have killed him if he didn't stab the gang leader in jail.

Richard's client, Frank Louis, was arrested for the sixth time on a charge of loitering for the purpose of begging. The judge sentenced him to 15 days in jail, which upset the man because he was concerned with the well being of his dog, Whisky.

The interview process begins for Roz, Richard, and Bobbi who hope to find someone to fill the first spot in the up and coming civil service unit that was created as a result of Richard's three billion dollar donation. After a lot of useless interviews, Ashley walks in and singlehandedly solves Richard's case and shows off her passion for the job and her high level of intelligence.

Meanwhile, Jerry and his client discuss a four-year deal, which Mr. Obassi turns down because he wants his chance to get out, and if he loses, he is already something he didn't want to be.

Judge Ventimiglia tries Jerry's case, and Richard presents the case Ashley suggested during her interview. As a result, his client goes free.

Later on at the bar, Richard points out each member of the group to Ashley, and to avoid meeting them, she tells Richard that she isn't ready to "break bread" with the D.A.'s. Ashley then stays in the office all night with a plan to sue the city for charging Mr. Louis for an illegitimate charge, but Roz turns the idea down. Roz tells Ashley she can pay the other side a visit and scare them to see what they can offer Mr. Louis, but that the lawsuit would cost the firm too many resources. Ashley goes to argue her case and lets her ego get in the way of doing what is best for Mr. Louis.

Meanwhile, Jerry meets with Doris, a gang violence expert, to help make his case. Doris and Jerry hit it off, and as Bobbi witnesses their laughter and conversation, she appears incredibly jealous. Doris then testifies and she and Jerry seem to share a moment before she leaves the stand. (Bobbi better make her move because Jerry will not be on the market forever.)

Balco pays a visit to Roz and tells her that she should have kept the plan of a lawsuit between the two of them and told him about it "boss to boss." Balco says he is going to make sure Mr. Louis is taken care of.

Bobbi approaches Jerry about a case she is in the middle of, and Jerry seemingly blows her off and answers a phone call from Doris. Bobbi reacts out of jealousy this time, and Jerry reminds her that it was her that pushed him away, not the other way around.

Meanwhile, Ashley apologizes to Richard for how she acted earlier, and he brings her to Mr. Louis' new apartment. She witnesses him finding out that he no longer has to live on the streets, and it seems to be a rewarding experience for both her and Richard.

The episode concludes with Jerry finding a note on his desk after losing his case. Inside the envelope is a map directing him somewhere. He follows the directions, and ends up at a hotel where he finds Bobbi in the hotel bar. She hands him the key, and the two finally unite like we have all been waiting for (and boy did she present the goods with that lingerie!).

What do you think of Ashley's character? Will Richard take on the role of being her mentor or could a possible romance flare up in the future? Do you think Mr. Obassi deserved his guilty sentence? What are your predictions for the season finale next week?
