Nine finalists compete to become the next member of the Pussycat Dolls.
  • Gossip Girl Moves Out of Idol's Way, Plays with Dolls | Today's News: Our Take | 1/5/2008
Fearing that its beautifully trendy kids will get crushed by the American Idol juggernaut — and also looking to get the best play from an upcoming rash of strike-induced repeats — the CW is moving Gossip Girl to Mondays at 8 starting Jan. 28. The thinking is that while in reruns, the show might get exposed to a different crowd on a new night, thus broadening its reach. "There's great buzz and a great reaction to Gossip Girl," a CW scheduling exec explains to Variety. "Now we just want to grow the audience a bit."Serena, Blair and the bratty bunch won't be alone on Mondays for long. Starting Feb. 18, GG's lead-out will be Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious, which will seek to form a brand-new (and presumably girlicious) girl band. One other major CW programming note: any remaining new Reaper episodes (there are two, by Ausiello's count) will piggyback Smallville starting Feb. 28. But don't fret, Supernatural fans — a CW rep assures me the series will be back Jan. 31, a... read more
  • Search for the Next Pussycat Doll Winner Asia Not Part of the Group | Today's News: Our Take | 7/20/2007
Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll was all for naught. CW president Dawn Ostroff shocked the Television Critics Association by confirming that the reality show’s winner Asia Nitollano is not part of the group. While gossip websites suggested Asia wasn’t up to the job, Ostroff insisted that Asia chose instead to pursue a solo career. But it’s clear that the show’s producers have reconsidered their concept. The next search will be for members of a new group, rather then competing for a chance to join the well-oiled PCD machine. — Reporting by Stephen Battaglio read more

  • April 24, 2007: And the Winner Is... | TV Show Recaps | 4/25/2007
It's over, my friends. Pussycat Doll No. 7 has officially been named and, frankly, I'm a little shocked by the decision. Clearly, my favorite has been Chelsea for a while now. I thought Chelsea did great with the group track and was dead-on with the vocals on "Feelin' Good." But she was given the slowest song on the PCD disc to sing, meaning she really didn't have to dance. And as many times as her dancing was mentioned this season, you could see she wasn't going to win it. Now although Chelsea was my favorite, I did mention a few weeks ago that my pick to win it all was Melissa. And based on this episode, she should have. She was the perfect package. I thought her performance of "Stickwitu" was possibly her best of the entire show. The judges thought she was the whole package, except Ron thought she had a deer-in-headlights look. That must have been something we didn't see on camera, because it didn't look like that at all to me. And then there's Asia. She spent the entire episode ... read more
