Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I'm going to get right to the point: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is not good.
Five episodes in, and I'm ready to quit -- and I don't quit anything. I'm still watching Grey's Anatomy, Project Runway and yes, even the boys vs. girls season of America's Next Top Model, but S.H.I.E.L.D. is pushing my limits.
Last week's episode was a small step in the right direction, finally introducing the show's Big Bad, Centipede. But I'm finding it hard to muster up anything beyond apathy towards this evil. Why should I care whether or not Coulson's team can save the world from Centipede when they haven't given me a single reason to care about the people doing the saving? Here are seven ways that S.H.I.E.L.D. went wrong:

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn just won the Emmy for outstanding reality host, but they may have some competition from the franchise's new leading lady, Alyssa Milano. After all, executive producer Harvey Weinstein did handpick her to be Project Runway All Stars' latest host.
HBO's Behind the Candelabra cleaned up at Sunday's Creative Arts Emmy Awards, winning eight trophies at the ceremony.
Among the Liberace biopic's accolades in the Miniseries, Movie or Special genre were Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Costumes, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup and Outstanding Sound Editing.
Amy Poehler and Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum is in — Parks and Recreation's season premiere, that is (Sept. 26 on NBC). The Project Runway host and America's Got Talent judge plays the popular mayor of a Denmark town who...
Heidi Klum struts onto the Project Runway stage in Manhattan's garment district and addresses a group of the show's superfans, who are serving as models for the Sept. 19 episode. "I love Project Runway," she tells them. "It's my fifth baby, so to speak."
If that's the case, the real-life mother of four figuratively...

Question: My question is about the new Joss Whedon show that has one of the most convoluted names I've ever heard: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I am a Whedon fan to the max, having watched every episode of every TV (and Internet) show he has ever done, and enjoyed them thoroughly. I am not, however, a moviegoer nor a comic book reader. I cannot remember the last theatrical production I've seen, and the only comics I read are the Buffy/Angel follow-ups. And that leaves me concerned about S.H.I.E.L.D. Every article I read, and even the just-released preview, mentions events that happened/people who existed in one or more theatrical movies, and many articles mention future movies that will tie into the events on the show. Since I never watched those movies — and most likely won't watch the future movies — am I going to be totally lost when the television show premieres?

Project Runway alum Christian Siriano is engaged to musician Brad Walsh.
Project Runway's risqué new promotional art has been banned from Hollywood billboards, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
In the poster for Season 12, host Heidi Klum and mentor Tim Gunn are fully clothed in Victorian-era garb, while a group of completely nude models look up at them. While the image will not be displayed in Los Angeles as planned, it is still planned to run in New York. Lifetime had no comment.
Project Runway is shaking things up for Season 12 by bringing back a mystery contestant from a past season and adding interactive components for fans.
