So last week I got some heat for being too "recap-y" so tonight I thought I'd change it up. With that said, let's get to it! After the choosing of the models, the designers found out that they would also be their clients. When they were told to make a hot cocktail dress for the "young woman", I thought this challenge would be a snoozer. But then Tim made it a tiny bit more interesting by announcing the cocktail dresses would have to be made from a "green" fabric. And in a
Project Runway first, the models/clients were going to get to do the shopping. All the girls were giddy but extremely clueless in Mood. Needless to say, the designers were not too thrilled with what was bought for them. I loved how Keith, the guy sporting a bandana and large tattoo, got stuck with peacock feathers. And side-note, we're only ten minutes in and Suede has already spoken in the third person twice, this is going to get extremely annoying if he keeps this up all season. Blayne, the other more "interesting" character this season, came up with a new nickname for Heidi. He called her Darthalicious for being shiny on the outside and crazy on the inside. Anyone else notice how Blayne adds "icious" to everything? Stella, who has started to reveal her true wackiness, has decided to go against what her client wants. This usually goes against the rules of
Project Runway 101 but perhaps it could work in her favor. And seriously- Suede won't stop with the third person.
Tim goes around to each designer to check in and when he gets to Kator he seems a bit concerned. When he says her dress may be a hot mess I realized just how much Christian Siriano has really rubbed off on him. Tim then makes two exciting announcements. Although there's no immunity for the winner, their design will be sold on Bluefly.com, and tonight there would be a hot "young Hollywood" guest judge who was revealed later on as Natalie Portman looking more adorable than ever.
Time for the runway show. I really liked Keith's yellow dress as well as Terri's. Wesley's was a disaster and Jerell's was heinous and totally unflattering. I guess it was the lack of fabric choice but everyone's dress seemed to be either the brown or yellow. And Jerell's earlier comment about "team ugly brown fabric" was spot on after seeing all of the creations. I knew Kinley's would be a judge's favorite with the high collar. Not surprisingly, Wesley's tight, short and shiny brown dress was not a hit. Stella's dress was liked which was disappointing because I find her annoying and didn't care for the design anyway. Michael Kors, being blunt yet hilarious as per usual, told Korto that curvy girls don't want fins coming off their butt. Natalie loved Suede's frock which I guess was young and whimsical but would anyone really wear something with a tutu? I guess since the '80's are back in style you never know. Regardless he was crowned the winner. Wesley was sent packing leaving Korto and Leanne hanging on by a thread.
So did you guys agree with the judge's decision or have any other favorites? Let me know below!
