The End of The Prisoner: Who Is No. 1?

In the old and new versions of The Prisoner, Six wants Two to answer the burning question: Who is No. 1?

In AMC's updated six-part version of the '60s cult classic, an answer comes from a schoolgirl in Monday's Episode 3. Her rote response sounds as if it's had been drummed into her head:

Merry Madagascar
8/7c NBC
NBC rolls out another holiday special, this time with the gang from the Madagascar movies. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett-Smith once again lend their voices to the crew of zoo animals stranded a long, long way from home. When Santa (voice of Carl Reiner) crashes into their island and ends up with amnesia, the animals decide to deliver his presents themselves. But saving Christmas isn't their only motive — they also see the magic sleigh as their ticket back to New York City.

The Prisoner Episode Recap: "Arrival" and "Harmony"

AMC's reimagining of the 1968 cult classic, The Prisoner, kicks off its first night with a man called Six (Jim Caviezel) waking up in the desert with no idea how he got there. (Maybe he turned a frozen donkey wheel?) Worse, after being chased by men with dogs, taking a few cab rides, and meeting with a snazzy dresser known as Two (Ian McKellen), he realizes he also has no idea how to leave this mysterious place, known to its inhabitants as The Village. Along the way we get glimpses into Six's "other life," and we meet some of the other citizens of the village. However, as Six hangs around and is introduced to his "family," he begins to wonder if maybe all of this is real after all. Thus, we are thrust into a mind-tripping story that poses new questions at nearly every turn... read more

The Prisoner
8/7c AMC
Surreal, intriguing and at times captivating, this trippy re-jiggering of the 1960s cult hit is awash in a school of red herring (or are they?) As Six, Jim Caviezel is both a complex and perplexed amnesiac (or is he?) who alights in a mysterious dreamscape known as the Village, where everyone knows your name, but all names are numbers. The No. 1 guy in the Village is actually Two (Ian McKellen), an enigmatic leader with a smile on his face, treachery in his heart and a tendency for two-timing.
