The efforts of educator Janet Mino at John F. Kennedy High School in Newark, N.J., to help students with autism open up to the world around them is chronicled. Her entire class consists of six young men who, because they're due to turn 21, will soon "age out" of the school system. Continuing-education programs and accommodations for such special-needs students are scarce, however, leading Mino to take it upon herself to find suitable situations for each of them.
