Animated phenomenon about 10-year-old Ash, who's on a quest to become the grand champion of Pokemon (pocket monsters), while he and his loyal friends do constant battle with the evil Team Rocket. The series is based on the popular electronic game from Japan. Most adults had never heard of `Pokemon' until a 1997 incident in which hundreds of Japanese children experienced seizures while watching an episode. (The episode was promptly edited to remove the flashing lights that caused the reaction.)
