What can I say about tonight's show? Ah, yes, the eye candy is gone. Not only has Sean been cut loose, but a powerful triumvirate has emerged in two-time captain Azmyth, the conniving Jay and the seemingly innocent Ben. Waves are being made on this show and I'm wondering what next week will bring. Before leaping ahead, let's address the time issue on this show. Just how long do they have between challenges? Jay mentioned at least twice that Sean had gone back on his word "two weeks ago." Weeks, not days? That makes me wonder how much of the footage we're not seeing. And if indeed weeks are going by, shouldn't we be seeing some changes in the crew like longer hair, skinnier waists, fuller beards? Maybe I'm not noticing these things because that Nessa is just so darn cute. See? Her flirting is a valid strategy! I jest. She's grating. Nessa worked that pardon, though, even if she eventually did not need it. The vote came down to Sean and former captain Louie. Oh, and Laurel, who also didn't need the pardon. Now that personalities are emerging, it's fun to watch the players position themselves. The quiet Laurel spiced up pirate court when she tossed Azmyth's trumped-up black-mark reasoning back at him. Sadly, she didn't scare his reacquired accent out of him. Louie made nice with JD. "No more is there vengeance in my heart." He's soooo dramatic. Then there's Sean and Jupiter, who really don't like the touchy-feely Nessa. Joe Don seems to like her a lot and threw in some of his own cash to make sure that Nessa won the pardon. Next week they kiss. Looks as if we have a real pirate wench aboard, though I wonder if that sort of transaction is actually allowed on the show. As for the challenge, the teams had to use more than endurance to claim their $40K booty. Having to really figure out a clue and then truly race against the other team to find the treasure made for an entertaining treasure hunt. And replacing the clearly marked sabotage with an unexpected booby trap was a nice touch. But even with all that, the end result is that Sean is gone and I suspect his absence will be tangible in the next episode.
