Premise: An eccentric Long Island family appears to be filthy rich. Actually, they're deep in debt to the government and trying desperately to keep up appearances. Originally titled `The Pruitts of Southampton,' the series retooled the premise (the family turned the mansion into a boardinghouse) and changed its title to `The Phyllis Diller Show.' Nothing helped, and it was canceled after one season.
