An Opera Company of Philadelphia production of Gioacchino Rossini's “The Italian Girl in Algiers” features mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and tenor Don Juan Florez as imperiled lovers Isabella and Lindoro. But there's a feminist twist to this 1813 comedy: Isabella, a member of the evil Algerian king Mustafa's harem, is the hero(ine). She frees Lindoro from Mustafa's dungeon. Mustafa: Arthur Woodley.
