Premise: Classic courtroom drama about an L.A. lawyer (adapted from author Erle Stanley Gardner's novels) who seemed incapable of losing a case, thanks to his brilliant deductive reasoning and his uncanny ability to break witnesses on the stand. The formula was as predictable as the verdict, but the long-running series (nine seasons) was crisply paced and beautifully acted. Nearly 20 years after the series ended, Raymond Burr returned to his Emmy-winning role in a number of successful TV-movies.
