Poundstone called this a `postmodern variety show,' blending music segments, audience Q&A and plenty of topical comedy. In one memorable segment, newsman Sam Donaldson delivered an earnest reading of the children's book `Where the Wild Things Are.' It was all a bit too avant-garde for a Saturday-night audience, and the show was canceled after only two broadcasts.
