One contestant is eliminated at the end of each episode. The series is based on an installment of Oprah's daytime show in which she gave audience members $1000 apiece and instructed them to use the money for charitable endeavors.

    Over the past month and a half, you may have seen ABC's welcome-back promo for returning shows. In the segment, an uplifting montage of some of the net's biggest stars, personalities and series mixes with spring-themed graphics of rebirth and new growth. Behind the promo and its message, though, is the music — the real heart-string tugger in the piece.The selection of the song, "Crash" — from Taylor Dayne's latest album, Satisfied — came as a surprise to the music vet. Big Brother (6.17 mil) gained 450K week-to-week. Everybody Hates Chris (1.45 mil) and Aliens in America (1.09 mil) returned from the strike to meager audiences.9 pmOprah's Big Give improved on lead-in EM:HE by five percent, scoring 15.55 mil in its debut.
