One Tree Hill Episode Recap: "At the Bottom of Everything" Season 7, Episode 17

As Haley and Quinn must face their mom's impending death, they realize they need to be strong for little Jamie who learns from Lydia that his grandma won't be there this Christmas. Although Haley is having trouble accepting this, Nathan has a heart-to-heart with his mother-in-law and tells her that she was "responsible for raising the woman that changed my entire world." Sigh. As Haley searches for a way to keep her mom healthy by calling on Nathan's team doctor, she comes to terms with the fact that there is no positive prognosis. They decide to embrace the harsh facts, and Jamie, Nate and Quinn decorate the Christmas tree for Lydia so that they can all spend one final Christmas together.

As Mouth and Lauren are drifting from their exes, they are getting closer to each other. While I love Mouth and Millicent as a couple and miss Skills as the side-kick, there's something natural about the idea of Mouth and Lauren getting together. While it starts out as two friends comforting each other and innocently playing video games, Mouth realizes he wants to take her on a real date. Unfortunately for Millie, just as she gets the advice from an unlikely friend (Owen who not only took her virginity last season, but has become her confident in her drug addicts meetings), the love of her life is slipping away.

Another budding relationship is the one between Grubbs the bartender and Miranda the recording studio executive. He's finally about to sign Miranda's contract, but first he has a list of demands she must meet. It begins innocently as he makes her eat a pickled egg and ends with Miranda strutting her stuff across the bar in sexy lingerie. But she has also uses the removal of her inhibitions to tell him, "Maybe it's time to believe in yourself."

Julian and Brooke seem to be getting closer to reconciliation and Haley urges Brooke that "life is too short to play games" and she should "deal with the mess later — you don't know what tomorrow will bring." While Alexander momentarily has taken Brooke's arch-nemesis off her exes hands, it actually brings Julian and Alex closer. Julian's jealousy gets the best of him, and he offers to walk Alex to her room. As Brooke goes up to the hotel room to win back her man, she sees Alex — naked — in Julian's bed.

Do you think Brooke and Julian will ever get back together?
