One Tree Hill Episode Recap: "Letting Go" Season 6, Episode 19

On this episode of One Tree Hill, Haley finds a way to get through to her students, Lucas and Nathan take Jamie to a memorable place from their past, and Brooke must decide whether to follow her heart or do what she thinks is best for Sam.

Haley's back to her music, but she's having trouble writing now that she has left teaching. In the classroom, the students are rebelling against the principal who has taken her place. Sam decides they have to teach the mean principal a lesson, so she devises a plan. She tells Jack that she doesn't mean for him to throw on a ski mask and beat the crap out of her like the last time she wanted to get back at someone. They get the rest of the class to go to Haley's living room, where they're waiting for her when she gets home. She talks to them about Catch-22, and they begin to understand what the book is about. Of course, the principal walks in, and when Haley tries to explain that she needs to treat them like adults, the principal reminds Haley that she's not their teacher anymore and should pick up the last of her things left in the classroom. But the principal later shows a change of heart as she realizes the effect Haley's had on her students. Haley sticks to her own principles and tells her former boss that she's made a good teacher not want to teach and good students not want to learn.

After Dan confessed to Jamie that he killed Keith, the questions started to come, leaving Nathan unsure of how to handle it. He goes to Lucas for advice, and the two end up taking Jamie to Keith's auto shop. There, Jamie learns a little more about his great uncle and Lucas tells him, "He loved me and was proud of me just like I love you and am proud of you." Jamie then asks if he's allowed to miss Grandpa Dan and Lucas, although conflicted, says, "Yeah."

Julian shows up to Brooke's store with a one-way ticket to Malibu. When she tells him that she can't leave Sam, he pulls out another ticket and tells her he loves her. Unsure of what she should do, Brooke talks to Peyton who urges her to go. "What if it doesn't work out?" Brooke asks. "What if it does?" Peyton responds.

Skills decides to take Mouth on a road trip to heal his broken heart. They arrive on his old college campus where Gigi is waiting for him, keg stand and all. But even though Gigi was there ready and willing, Mouth kept picturing Millie. He explains to Skills that she's the girl he always dreamed of finding, and so the two friends get back in the car and back on the road. Mouth asks Skills how he's dealing with his own broken heart (from losing Deb), and Skills says he tells himself that if Deb is the one she'll come back. And if she's not, then the one is still out there. Although usually the jokester, sometimes Skills is ever so genuine. Mouth then takes a nap and when he wakes up, Skills has driven to Millicent's apartment. He gets out and waits, and when she finally returns home he tells her, "I'm here because I can't live without you and I don't want to anymore and I'm sorry." They kiss and hug, but it's unfortunate that our other new couple, Brooke and Julian, won't have the same happy ending.

Still conflicted, Brooke talks to Chase, who tells her that until she lets someone in, she'll always be alone. Then Brooke talks to Haley, who makes her realize the great things she's done with Sam. But when Brooke gets home, her bags are packed and Sam's ready to go. So Brooke goes to the airport, and when Julian sees her his face lights up. But as she gets closer, he knows what she's going to say. "If this were a movie it would end different, but life's not a movie...Goodbye Brooke Davis." Even Julian has caught the One Tree Hill "call everyone but their full name" syndrome.

Lucas returns home, and the two still haven't told Nathan and Brooke about their situation. "There's always tomorrow," Lucas says. Famous last words. After Lucas goes to bed, Peyton opens up a box filled with pages she's been drawing of their love story, presumably so that her child has memories of her when she's gone.

Tree Hill returns in three weeks so until then, comment away.
