ABC's partnership with Marvel is continuing at a good pace. On Friday's Television Critics Association winter TV previews, ABC entertainment head Paul Lee announced that the character of Lady Sif from the Thor films will cross over to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Here's an exclusive clip from Thursday's episode of Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, which finds Alice and Will, the Knave, confronting a fire-breathing dragon. The scene was shot on location outside Vancouver at Alouette Lake in Golden Ears National Park. "I love being out here," the show's Alice, Sophie Lowe, told me on set. "We had to start out here at 4 a.m. when it was still pitch dark, but when the sun came out we discovered how beautiful it is. Even though we have to deal with rain and planes, I definitely enjoy location shoots more than our green screen scenes."
During breaks in filming, the cast set out on their own to explore the park's wonders. "I'm from the middle of England with grey skies and no water or sun, so I'm always wandering off into Vancouver's forests," says Michael Socha (Knave Will). "I'm just glad I haven't bumped into one of those bloody bears yet!"
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
Here's one reason to celebrate ABC's decision to stick with its struggling Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. The spin-off has just closed a deal with Barbara Hershey to reprise her popular Once Upon a Time role as Cora, The Queen of Hearts.
When Sleepy Hollow went on a three-week hiatus due to MLB playoffs coverage, Fox promoted the show's video on-demand episodes instead. "Catch up from the beginning," promos suggested.
The networks' agreements with service providers typically allow for a "rolling five," which means the five most recent episodes are available via VOD. Coincidentally, five episodes of Sleepy Hollow had already run before the break, giving Fox one last chance to introduce viewers to the show's entire run (until the next batch of episodes began) via Fox.com, Hulu, Fox On Demand or its "Fox Now" app.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland has gotten off to a rocky start, but the Once spin-off surprised viewers by revealing that the Red Queen (Emma Rigby) was actually the Knave's (Michael Socha) former love from another world.
