Premise: The terrific Britcom about a dysfunctional workplace from hell helped put BBC America on the TV map, attracting a wider audience of hip, young viewers. This wickedly funny mockumentary tracks the monotonous doings at a paper-product firm in the dreary London suburb of Slough. Ricky Gervais (who wrote and directed the series with Stephen Merchant) plays it perfectly deadpan as David Brent, the inept office manager who has deluded himself into thinking that he's both a funny guy and a great boss.
