That '70s Girl Grows Up with '07's October Road

Laura Prepon, October Road

Calling all Donna Pinciotti fans! OK, so it's not exactly the same redhead from That '70s Show, but Laura Prepon is back on the small screen with a lighter 'do and a big role — playing Mom on the new ABC drama October Road, which airs a new episode tonight at 10 pm/ET. While she's no Kitty Forman, her 28-year-old character, Hannah, does balance a job, a relationship and parent-teacher meetings. But her biggest struggle is her high-school sweetheart (played by Bryan Greenberg) rolling back into town after a decade's absence and dragging the past along with him. TVGuide.com talked to the fun, enthusiastic Prepon about her "awesome" character, grand gestures and her Jersey upbringing that bri read more

Urgent Grey's Anatomy News!

Good news: We won't have to wait until March 29 to see how this whole George/Izzie hook-up debacle plays out on Grey's Anatomy. Reliable sources (i.e. a just-released ABC bulletin) confirm that ABC has opted to air a fresh episode of Grey's this Thursday instead of an originally-scheduled repeat. Why the last-minute switcheroo? Two words: October Road. Apparently, ABC execs — encouraged by the show's opening-week numbers last Thursday — didn't want to lose any of that momentum in Week Two. And with the exception of American Idol, there's no greater momentum-sustainer on TV than an original episode of Grey's.Personally, I found October Road to be almost unwatchable. God-awful dialogue made my ears bleed. read more

This Thursday's ratings rundown:8 pmOpposite NCCA basketball coverage, Ugly Betty (10.76 mil) dropped 2.4 million total viewers from its last fresh outing to deliver its smallest audience since Nov. 23. March 15, 2007: The Return Home

I remember hearing about this show a while ago. I’m one of those extremely nerdy people who pays attention to all the pilots that are greenlit by the networks as well as those that get picked up to be series. Did I mention I’m a nerd? I was excited about this show in particular for three reasons: Bryan Greenberg, Laura Prepon and Tom Berenger. These three names alone made me want to watch it. I never got into One Tree Hill, but I loved Bryan Greenberg on HBO’s Unscripted. I was so disappointed when it didn’t get renewed for a second season. And Laura Prepon is our beloved Donna or “Big Red” from That '70s Show. And Tom Berenger. I think he’s just a great actor who doesn’t seem to be getting much work. And I have to say that the talents of all three of these actors are underutilized here. But I’m not saying the show doesn’t have potential. I think this is a great concept. I was one of those kids who couldn’t wait to get out of my ... read more

Will Grey's Pave the Way for October Road?

Bryan Greenberg, October Road

Bryan Greenberg has nothing to complain about. First, he snuggled up to Hilarie Burton on One Tree Hill, then he was all over Uma Thurman in Prime, and now he's smooching That '70s gal Laura Prepon in the new ABC drama October Road, debuting tonight at 10 pm/ET. Returning to his hometown after 10 years, Greenberg's author Nick Garrett is welcomed back with hesitation by those who feel betrayed by his first novel, and that's where the story really begins: The on-screen romances are just a read more

Raines, October Road, The Wedding Bells, Andy Barker, P.I. and Battlestar Galactica

With spring comes the hope that the networks have a sleeperhit waiting in the wings — like last March, when CBS deliveredtwo keepers in The Unit and The New Adventures of OldChristine. But this new wave of mid-season contenders alsotends to disrupt familiar viewing patterns. (In other words:Bring back Men in Trees, sooner rather than later.) It maynot exactly be four weddings and a funeral, but this week,as we try to make sense of March's chaotic shuffle of comingsand goings, I'm weighing in on four arrivals — some fresherthan others — and a much-awaited season-finale departure. Ohhhh, Life

Life has been very stressful and crazy lately. Auditioning has been going great, but I've found myself passing on jobs lately because my schedule has been so crammed. It's hard because I'm in a place where I would really love a little creative change, but I guess it's a "high-class" problem — too much work. Then again, a "high-class problem" is still a problem. Oh, well. Hopefully soon everything will be able to work together. To destress I went to see 300 this past weekend. It was awesome! What a great movie! I really think it'll change the way studios do movies in the future. The entire movie was shot in Toronto in front of a blue screen. All of the effects were done with CG. I also think the $70 million opening weekend proves that you don't have to have "name" stars to be a great, box-office movie. As long as it's a great story, there are talented actors and the whole thing is well executed, this type of movie can be a success. "This will not end quickly. You will not enjoy ... read more
