Music's affect on the brain is explored via four case studies from neurologist Oliver Sacks' book "Musicophilia" and MRI visualizations of Sacks' own brain responding to classical pieces, including Bach's Mass in B Minor. The studies include a man with Tourette's syndrome who found relief playing the drums; an autistic savant whose prowess on the piano is dazzling; a woman with amusia (the inability to process music); a surgeon whose life was changed by a lightning strike.
