The 2002 discovery in a Chinese stone quarry of the 350-million-year-old fossil of a four-winged, pigeon-sized dinosaur, and the possibility that the creature---dubbed the Microraptor---is the "missing link" between dinosaurs and birds, is examined. Included: a wind-tunnel experiment using a Microraptor model; remarks from paleontologists Larry Martin, Mark Norell and Xu Xing, American Museum of Natural History artist Mick Ellison, anatomist Farish Jenkins and aerodynamicist Kenny Breuer.
