Season 30, Episode 2 Mysterious Life of Caves

Following spelunking scientists as they look for evidence of how caves in New Mexico, Wyoming and Mexico were formed---and what that might say about extraterrestrial life. “It's almost like going to another planet,” says geomicrobiologist Penny Boston of New Mexico's Carlsbad Caverns, and she might not be speaking metaphorically. Still, there's plenty of life in all the caves visited, and living organisms might have shaped them. Those organisms live in a harsh environment---for some creatures. “For them it's not extreme,” Boston notes. “It's only extreme for us.”
