Season 27, Episode 16 Secrets of Lost Empires: Roman Bath

In part 3 of a five-part series, a team of engineers, architects and historians attempts to re-create a Roman bath, “the most technologically advanced building in the ancient world,” says narrator Stacy Keach. The new bath is built in Sardis, Turkey (near Ephesus), and presents many challenges, especially the heating system. The hour also marvels at the sophistication of Roman architecture and engineering. Ancient Rome's water-delivery system, for instance, was not equaled until the 19th century.
