The hour features interviews with Myron Scholes and Robert Merton, the economists who devised the forumula (and won a 1997 Nobel prize for it). They describe how they did it and why it finally failed them. Sums up narrator David Ogden Stiers: “It is a powerful technology for managing risk. But it is not a crystal ball.” Also interviewed: economists Paul Samuelson and Merton Miller.
