Season 27, Episode 2 Lost on Everest

Chronicling a 1999 expedition tracing the mysterious 1924 attempt by Britons George Mallory and Andrew Irvine to climb Mount Everest. The two were spotted less than 1000 feet from the summit, but were never seen alive again. The 1999 climbers find Mallory's body---but no clues as to whether he had made it to the top before dying. Given the technology available to him, he probably hadn't, the mountaineers conclude. Says one: It's “a very difficult mountain to climb, particularly if you're wearing tweeds.” Rebecca De Mornay narrates.
