Premise: An incisive, Emmy-winning late-night news series that usually analyzes the day's top story, with interviews following an in-depth report. It occasionally features program-length documentaries, in-depth weeklong series or town-hall forums. The program began in November 1979 as `The Iran Crisis: America Held Hostage', with Frank Reynolds at the anchor desk. Ted Koppel took over shortly thereafter and it expanded its scope (and took the name `Nightline') on March 24, 1980.
