An Emmy-winning, richly photographed and reported exploration of the world's natural wonders, produced by the National Geographic Society. In June 2003, it took the title `National Geographic Ultimate Explorer,' adding culture and politics to the mix. In January 2005, its title was changed once again, to simply `Explorer.'

Cuban Crocs; Crocodiles of the Orinoco; Croc Country

First Aired: June 22, 2001

Dr. Jesus Rivas and his biologist wife Renee Owens travel to Venezuala in search of the near-extinct Orinoco crocodiles, which can grow up to 16 feet in length. Also: travel to the Zapata Swamp in Cuba, where the breed of crocodile can jump several feet in the air; and visit the Koorana Crocodile Farm in Queensland, Australia.
