An Emmy-winning, richly photographed and reported exploration of the world's natural wonders, produced by the National Geographic Society. In June 2003, it took the title `National Geographic Ultimate Explorer,' adding culture and politics to the mix. In January 2005, its title was changed once again, to simply `Explorer.'

Lost Road of the Inca; Tiger Shark; Shark Bites

First Aired: June 17, 2000

Segments include a look at how the past and present intersect in South America, where writer Karin Muller explores the ancient Inca empire while detailing the reasons for recent riots in Ecuador and poverty in Peru. Also, a look at the tiger shark, one of the ocean's greatest predators; and an underwater photographer returns to the South Pacific to profile the sharks that attacked him.
