While on the Today show promoting his show Nashville Star, Meredith couldn't resist asking Billy Ray what his take was on the passé issue of Miley's half-naked, provocative photos in Vanity Fair. Daddy Cyrus explained he didn't complain to the magazine by using the lovely metaphor, "The more you stomp in poop, the more it stinks." He even addressed what many called the "creepy" pose between him and his daughter which looked more like boyfriend and girlfriend.

Cheers to Nashville Star for cutting to the chase. American Idol's countrified cousin whittled down the audition process which takes Simon Cowell & Co. seemingly endless weeks to 20 minutes, and promptly presented the Top 12 finalists. It helped that there were none of the airtime-sucking freak-shows that make Idol's initial episodes so painful. Plus, Jewel smoothly transitioned from host to judge, making room for new emcee Billy Ray Cyrus to bring some of that Hannah Montana/Dancing With the Stars magic to the show as it's transplanted from USA to NBC. In a word: Giddyap! Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board. We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine!

American Gladiators by Trae Patton/NBC Photo
Thanks to a schedule full of America-centric titles, NBC is dubbing its off-season an "All-American Summer," Variety reports. The network is getting behind the return of American Gladiators and America's Got Talent as a patriotic buildup to the Olympics in August. Although the network is waving the red, white and blue, the Peacock's true colors this summer will be reality television. In addition to nonscripted shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the network is devoting an entire Monday-night block to reality shows, including the newly relocated Nashville Star.NBC does, however, have plans for a few scripted shows, including its recently announced horror anthology series Fear Itself. But if for some reason those shows dont make it, NBC could just air a waving American flag for 22 minutes. Adam BryantRelated: NBC Hopes to Scare Up Ratings with Fear Itself

NBC Universal president and CEO Jeff Zucker said he doesnt envision any changes to the NBC's 2007-08 fall schedule even though he's changed top entertainment executives at the network. NBC made it official late Tuesday that Ben Silverman, who brought The Office and Ugly Betty to American television, will become co-chairman of the networks entertainment division and production studio. Marc Graboff, president of NBC Universal Television, West Coast, has also been elevated to co-chairman."The timing of the announcement has nothing to do with the fall schedule," said Zucker. Jewel: Who did you vote for?Angela: Me.It's a Hacker world, baby! Congratulations, Angela! The season finale came so quickly, but I'm grateful that this show doesnt mess around and gets right down to it. Well, except for tonight. They still had to fill an hour, and what better way to do that than with one performance after the next? I loved how the final three were dressed to the nines, considering the former contestants were out on stage tonight they needed to stand apart. Even Jewel looked like she was ready for the red carpet. I did think Zac's gold jacket looked kind of funny, though, but hey, it's Zac

He's pretty much allowed to wear whatever he wants at this point. When the Alabama siblings each sang for the last time before the winner was announced, you could tell both of them were soaking up the moment. It's like they were really inside their songs for those two minutes. Did anyone else feel slightly uncomfortable seeing Randy Owen clutching Anastasia's ha...
