The show premiered in 1953 and endured various incarnations over the next 20 years, the most memorable of which was the addition of the `Bid-a-Note' round in the 1970s, where contestants claimed they could `name that tune' after hearing a small number of notes. Kathie Lee Gifford (née Johnson) was a vocalist on the 1976-81 syndicated version, as was Steve March Torme, son of Mel Torme.
