Mega Buzz on Housewives, Gossip Girl, Heroes & More!

Dana Delany by Randee St. Nicholas/ABC, Ed Westwick by Andrew Eccles/The CW and Ali Larter by Paul Drinkwater/NBC

Senior editors Matt Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions! E-mail us your own scoopy needs. The Housewives premiere is still weeks away! Tide me over with some scoop? – SusanMatt: A near-death experience is going to set up a major health crisis for one of the male residents of Wisteria Lane. And that’s about all I can say without Marc Cherry getting all angry like he did last spring when I spoiled the time-warp.What does Season 2 have in store for Gossip Girl's Jenny and Chuck? I heard they might get together. XOXO. — SamanthaMickey: In the name of American Apparel, bite your tongue! Jenny will be too busy toiling away at a dress form anyway, as Season 2 fleshes out her fashion-related ambitions, which may or may not include Blair's mom. The Basshole, on the other hand, will avenge the loss of Victrola — that "classy" burlesque club in which he wanted his dad to invest — by turning his sights on an equally seedy Brooklyn venue, and with help from... read more

CBS at Press Tour: Life After Grissom

If the season opener of CSI is any indication—CBS gave critics screeners of the episode this week—William Petersen is going to get quite the emotional workout in his final 10 episodes as a series regular. He gives one of his strongest performances to date as he grapples with the aftermath of the climactic shooting of Warrick (Gary Dourdan) in last season’s cliffhanger shocker. The episode also brings Jorja Fox’s Sara (looking softer and prettier) back into the picture, at least temporarily.CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler, kicking off CBS’s portion of the fall-season TCA press tour on Friday morning, spent much of her session explaining the new character who will be introduced to eventually take over the team. Described by Tassler as “an outsider coming into the CSI unit … not immediately as the boss,” he’s a doctor and scientist with “an interesting genetic profile that, in certain sort of medical contexts, they’ve noti... read more

I just wanted to thank you ...

Question: I just wanted to thank you for being blunt but honest about the odds of Moonlight being renewed. The fandom has kind of gone nuts, and it feels like people are being lied to and fed false information to boost the egos of a few fans who get off on the attention and adulation of an eager fandom. I don't really buy the DirecTV info, and can't see any reason why they would put any stock into an online poll at all, let alone one on a fanboard. Not only are you dealing with a severely biased sample, but you've got moderators with a hugely vested interest who could make the results whatever they wanted. A lot of fourth-rate "journalists," who are just bloggers repeating the info sent to them by fans, have repeated the "DirecTV contacted a fan and asked her to get numbers" lie, which the fans then post as if it's confirmation of what the campaign has claimed. It's one giant circle jerk, so it's very refreshing to have a legitimate TV columnist refuse to drink the Kool-aid. I'm sure ... read more

Moonlight Is Still Dead — What's Next?

Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles in Moonlight by Eric McCandless/CBS

Not to beat a dead vampire, but despite all the last-ditch efforts — by the CW, TNT, DirecTV — Moonlight is actually dead, according to the A HREF="http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/06/moonlight-is-de.htmlHollywood Reporter. Their source says the sets have been dismantled, and the show's soundstage will soon be occupied by Simon Baker's new drama The Mentalist.Although I wasn't a regular viewer of Moonlight, I am sad for its passing, since it's nice when a show generates such a devoted fan base. Let's all look toward the future though. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, star of the recently canceled New Amsterdam, has already landed a new pilot at Fox. Where will you like to see Moonlight stars Alex O'Loughlin, Sophia Myles and Jason Dohring show up next?A Dohring-Kristen Bell reunion on Heroes seems inevitable. Myles might make a dangerous addition to Mad Men's stable of lethal beauties. And call me crazy, but when I see O'Loughlin, I immediately think: "Widmore henchman" on Lost. Got any ... read more

You've said that once a show ...

Question: You've said that once a show is canceled, it is pretty much gone. Is it your opinion/educated guess that we (and I know you must be sick of questions about this) should give up on seeing Moonlight picked up and new episodes produced? There was talk that CW was considering doing it. They didn't. Then last weekend at a rally in LA, one of the show producers mentioned the Sci Fi Channel being a possibility. Now we find out Sci Fi said no. Are there any networks considering it? Is Joel Silver still trying to find a home for it? Answer: With all due respect, until I hear anything substantive to the contrary, I think it's best to consider Moonlight history. Not that I'm discouraging fans from continuing to rally to its cause. They have every right to do that. But I'm not quite sure where the white knight could emerge from in this case. (See more in this week's Mega Buzz.) And because I'm all about equal time, here's an open letter from Rick: "I have your answer for all the Moonlight ... read more

I voted for you on the PETA's ...

Question: I voted for you on the PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity poll (like I do every year). Does that earn me some scoop on Moonlight? I heard that the CW might do something with it. What are the odds it will actually happen?

Answer: Thanks Marie for reminding everyone that my annual campaign to win PETA's SV honors has begun anew! As you'll recall, Kevin Eubanks edged me out at the 11th hour last year due to Jay Leno's shameless Tonight Show stumping. Help me avoid a repeat of that embarrassing fiasco by circulating this link to your friends/family and their friends and family with the following instructions: Vote for Aus read more

Mike, you've missed some ...

Question: Mike, you've missed some serious Moonlight grieving, especially from me. Please tell me there is some truth to the rumors that the Sci Fi channel may be interested in picking up Moonlight.

Answer: It's half true. Sci Fi passed on picking up new episodes, but there's still a chance it could air existing episodes. Short story shorter: Keep fighting!

This Bites: Why Moonlight Won't Live On at the CW

Moonlight by Joel David Warren/The CW

Moonlight fans hoping to see Alex O'Loughlin and his vampire-drama buddies resurrected by the CW had their dreams squashed when Media Rights Capital officially released the Sunday line-up it had developed for the fifth network. Addressing the decision to pass up the opportunity to pick up the cult hit and its eight million viewers, MRC TV president Keith Samples explains to Variety, "It just didn't seem in the end that it was the right thing to do at this moment in time."We're going down a new path here, I'll be the first to admit," Samples adds. "Things will come up on this road we didn't foresee, and we will evolve." That said, sources tell TVGuide.com that Warner Bros. TV still is "exploring other options," thought it is unclear if that relates to hosting existing episodes of Moonlight or delivering new ones. — MWMRelated:• Official CW Sunday Sked: Laughs, Love, Loan Sharks• Will the CW Bring Moonlight Back to Life?• Moonlight Has Drawn its Last BloodReview ou... read more

I must say how disappointed I ...

Question: I must say how disappointed I was when I heard Moonlight was being canceled. I had only started watching it a few episodes ago, but that was enough to get me hooked. There's a series of books which I am sure you have heard of called Twilight. They of course deal with vampires and werewolves, and a human falling on love with a vampire. If it wasn't for those amazing books, I probably wouldn't have started to watch Moonlight. These books are selling out nationwide, and women especially are the ones buying them. I think CBS needs to rethink canceling Moonlight for the sake of women everywhere. We read in these books about love and sacrifice, but actually seeing something like it makes it more real for us. If they won't give us another season, they need to come up with some sort of show that would be similar to it, because more and more people are getting into these kind of vampire books. And sooner or later, some network is going to come up with something, and it's going to be a ... read more

Do you think that CBS will ...

Question: Do you think that CBS will ever be bold enough to try and break their crime procedural mold? Just look at their line-up! Every single show (except for a few reality shows and maybe Ghost Whisperer) is extremely similar to each other. They cater to one audience only, and seem extremely stubborn to change it. This season they put a couple new shows out there with a bit of a different focus, but what did they do? They canceled every single one of them! Even the one with the most charismatic, best looking star I've seen in a while: Moonlight. It had excellent cult status, with the possibility for more, yet they cancel it. In a season where all of the other networks were giving new, low-performing shows renewal just because the season was so screwed up by the writer's strike, CBS still can't take a chance, break the mold or maybe stop themselves from continuing to dig a dull, boring, same-as-usual pit for themselves. My heart is broken for Moonlight, and my puzzlement with CBS ... read more
