Mike & Molly Episode Recap: "Carl is Jealous" Season 1, Episode 5

Even though Carl masks his regard for Mike by constantly making him the butt of fat jokes, it's clear just how much Carl cares for him. Or if it wasn't clear, it's clear after tonight's episode. Mike takes the time to comfort his friend even though Molly's given him the green light and is waiting for him back at her place.

Molly is slowly but surely turning Mike into a whipped man — or that's what Carl thinks. Maybe Carl doesn't know that when you start dating someone you sometimes (or often) do things the other person likes. For Molly that's the symphony. And she's also trying to expand Mike's horizons with a word-a-day calendar (I like those; I get mine in the form of an email from dictionary.com)

When Mike finally figures out Carl is lonely, he asks Molly to help him set Carl up. Is the only person they can find really Victoria? OK. So they're out on a double date and things are going pretty well. Victoria seems into Carl — although I think she's interested in any guy with a pulse. But it's all over the moment Michael Jordan walks in. When Victoria admits she likes bald guys Carl thinks she's talking about him. She's not.

Mike promises to get rid of Carl quickly after Molly tells Mike he's going to get lucky. The only problem is that Carl wants to talk. He wonders what's wrong with him and admits he is jealous of Mike and Molly. Considering his issues, he's not sure what he'd do if he lost Mike as a friend. They have a nice moment when Mike books it back to Molly's. Too bad Joyce cracks him on the head because she thinks he's an intruder. No sugar (and by sugar I mean nookie) for Mike tonight.

Wow. Nana is very vocal, kind of embarrassing, and very inappropriate. I love her.

Is the five year anniversary gift really wood?
