Josie Bissett
Josie Bissett is the latest original Melrose Place resident to plan a return visit to her old apartment building, on the CW reboot premiering Sept. 8.
Bissett will reprise her role as Jane Andrews Mancini — sneaky Sydney's sister and Dr. Michael Mancini's ex-wife — in at least ...

The new Melrose Place's Colin Egglesfield, Ashlee-Simpson-Wentz, Shaun Sipos and Katie Cassidy
At Thursday's CW upfront presentations, we got our first glimpse of the Melrose Place reboot. We saw a few scenes, and then asked the cast members about their new alter egos. But as it was just a preview, take these comments with a grain of salt. That said, it was simply the most important piece of television ever. Read on to see why:
Who's Back from the Original?
Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro are reprising their roles as Sydney Andrews and Dr. Michael Mancini, respectively. Though they've shared a marital bed in the past, they aren't a couple in the pilot episode. But Syd-Mike 'shippers needn't fret. Leighton left the door open for some future hanky-panky. "Sydney has most likely always maintained some sort of relationship with Michael," she teases. "It's been complicated, and that's not going to change."
Where's Amanda?
Heather Locklear has not yet agreed to appear on El Nuevo Melrose, but at least one former cast member is ...

Ashlee Simpson, Ian Somerhalder, Mischa Barton
The CW's schedule for the 2009-10 TV season is about natural pairings, starting with the network's new Melrose Place series leading out of 90210 — just as the original shows did back in the early '90s — on Tuesdays.
On Wednesdays, America's Next Top Model will tee up The Beautiful Life, a tale of wannabe top models living under one roof. The show — which includes an ensemble of Mischa Barton, Corbin Bleu and real-life supermodel Elle Macpherson as a tough-as-nails modeling agency boss — is produced by Ashton Kutcher.
As previously reported ...

Thomas Calabro
It appears that Sydney's checkered romantic past with former brother-in-law Michael Mancini might not necessarily be in the past.
On the heels of Laura Leighton becoming the first original Melrose Place resident to join the CW's reboot, sources tell TVGuide.com that Thomas Calabro also has signed on for the pilot.
Calabro will reprise his role of Dr. Michael Mancini. As for how exactly the morally gray Michael will ...

Laura Leighton, Shaun Sipos
Heather Locklear may have passed on the chance to be a part of the CW's Melrose Place reboot, but Laura Leighton — who played sassy schemer Sydney Andrews on the original Fox prime-time sudser — has said yes.
Leighton will reprise her role in the pilot and then continue on as a recurring player, "if" the new Melrose gets ordered to series, says the Hollywood Reporter. Sources tell the trade that Sydney will serve as the landlord of the titular apartment complex/den of iniquity.
For those not familiar with Leighton's character, I — as someone who used to "blog" recaps for Melrose in another age of man, before this Internet thing met its promise — can sum up Sydney as ...

Heather Locklear
Casting for the CW's reboot of Melrose Place is in full swing, but one star won't drop in: Heather Locklear.
Locklear, who played Amanda Woodward on the original Fox series, has turned down an offer to bring her character to the update, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Unlike the recently rebooted 90210 — which found success in bringing back original cast members Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling — a source tells EW, "there wasn't a way to bring [Locklear] back that made sense."
Meanwhile, the show ...

Ashlee Simpson
Melrose Place fans are divided over the casting of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in the show's upcoming CW reboot, but those who are angry have one person to blame: Bronx Mowgli.
The singer-actress took the gig to remain close to her three-month-old son, according to People. "She wanted something stable so she could be close to her baby," a friend of Simpson-Wentz said. "She was specifically looking for something in television as her next step, that filmed in Los Angeles, so she wouldn't have to be away from Bronx."
So is Ashlee giving up music for good?

Mischa Barton
We're starting to see the new Melrose Place lineup take shape, but the powers that be need your help! The CW has recently green-lit the pilot, to be directed by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth — yes, you read that correctly).
First up, Swingtown's Michael Rady (he has also appeared on Greek) has signed on to fill the new "Billy" slot as an aspiring filmmaker. Next: Katie Cassidy, Supernatural's demon Ruby and a cast member of CBS' upcoming Harper's Island (which, if you've read anything about the horror-mystery drama, chances are she dies, so don't worry), is playing a character that sounds a lot like Amanda Woodward.
Rumors persist that the producers are actively pursuing Grant Show and Heather Locklear to reprise their roles from the original. Then there is that pesky Mischa Barton rumor.
But before things get out of hand, let's offer them our two cents, shall we? Read on to see who we think should join the new Melrose cast...
