Slinky lingerie, rampant lunatics and loves usually gone wrong added up to many a soap fan's favorite campy pleasure. Early ratings were limp until executive producer Aaron Spelling spiced up the proceedings by bringing Heather Locklear and her wicked Amanda to the party, followed by plenty of bed-hopping, backstabbing and cliffhangers to go with the cheesy melodrama. As the show wrapped, Locklear said that `Melrose' gave her a character who `had sex more than anybody I have ever known.'
  • The Joy of Sets: Who's Your Favorite B#$@%? | DVD News and Reviews | 5/7/2008
OK, so since we had so much fun last week with everyone’s DVD wish lists, (and where the hell is thirtysomething, anyway?!) I figured why not give ya’ll a chance to weigh in with more opinions. Obviously everyone here loves TV, so let’s keep the dialogue going folks. This week? Bitches. And I mean that in a good way, not in the nasty rap way. Because most of my favorite shows feature a woman who gives as good as she takes, has no problem firing a boardroom full of suits with the toss of her fur stole, and never, ever leaves home without a victim in mind. How can you not love these women?!Beverly Hills, 90210 — The Complete Fourth Season came out last month and I devoured this set like Mama Cass at the sandwich shop. Not only is it the gang’s first year in college, but it marks Brenda's move to the Dark Side (following my all-time-favorite Brenda moment ever in Season 3, when La Walsh loses it on Kelly and Dylan for their summer affair: “Look, I hate... read more
  • Naked Lunch: Love in an Elevator — Melrose-style | Today's Top Videos | 2/26/2008
Get ready because starting today, we will be featuring our favorite full episodes from shows we love for your lunch-hour viewing pleasure (which often tend to show some skin — hence the Naked Lunch). Think of it as a "lunch-isode," if you will. We're kickin' things off with the sextastic episode from Season 1 of Melrose Place. And in the words of the great Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator," Kimberly and Michael really know what it's like to be livin' it up while you're goin' down!Episode Title: "Pas De Trois"Season: 1Year: 1993Why this episode: Ummm… the cracked-out Kimberly Shaw and the good doc Michael Mancini do it in an elevator. Is there really any more we need to say? Watch this episode now!Your take: Which episode was your favorite? Was it Kimberly ripping off her wig? Sydney stripping at Billy's bachelor party? We want to know! read more
  • CBS to Stream TV Classics Online, Too | Today's News: Our Take | 2/21/2008
Network see, network do. Coming on the heels of NBC's decision to offer classic TV shows over a group of websites, CBS has announced plans to upload full episodes from their programming vaults on the more than 300 sites that make up the CBS Audience Network. The network is kicking off the venture by offering the three seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series, Seasons 1 and 2 of The Twilight Zone, and the first seasons of MacGyver, Hawaii Five-O and Melrose Place on CBS.com and the sites of partners such as AOL, Microsoft, CNET Networks and Comcast.Unlike NBC, which opted to place its programming on network-owned genre sites, CBS is operating under the same open, non-exclusive strategy the network has been using for the past nine months. More programs and clips will be added to the initial lineup in the coming months. — Adam BryantUse TVGuide.com's Online Video Guide to search for clips as well as entire episodes of your favorite television shows, both past and present. • Let Us Give Thanks For Bones, Family Guy and Veronica Mars | The Joy of Sets | 11/21/2007
I know last week I said this column would be all about The O.C., but seeing how so many of us are off for the rest of the week, I figured, let’s hold that ‘til next week when we’re all back at work and trolling the web. Instead, I offer you one last pre-Thanksgiving batch of shows on DVD you can’t help but be grateful for.Veronica Mars All three seasons, all wondrous in their own way and all the Kristen Bell you need to know that the woman is a star. The only downside is the lack of gratitude one might experience at the CW’s cancellation of this prime property.Bones Let me put it this way: this show is a scream. And if you’re not hip to season 3 running on FOX right now, get there and grab the first two seasons available on your way. David Boreanaz may actually be the funniest handsome man on TV right now. And Emily Deschanel? She’s grown on me. Give her a shot, people. House isn’t Tuesday night’s only great show. (Oh and check out my... read more
  • Ask Matt | 10/15/2007
I read the letter last week from the person who had a problem with the 24 writers bringing Tony back from the dead, so to speak. I myself never thought Tony was dead, despite the silent clock, which, even if you think it's foolish, has been used for every "death" thus far. Just because the guy stabbed Tony with the needle and we saw Jack holding him and calling his name doesn't mean he's dead. There was a lot of talk about whether or not Tony was really dead, so I guess people were 50/50 on ... read more
