MasterChef Christine Ha's Recap: Dim Sum and Then Some!

Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, Joe Bastianich

MasterChef is back this week with the Top 6 home cooks in America. The latest team challenge has the contestants in the commercial kitchen of WP24, Wolfgang Puck's modern Asian restaurant in Los Angeles' Ritz-Carlton. When there were only six of us left during my season, we, too, had to cook in a commercial kitchen: it was the boys versus the girls at Hatfield's ...

In this week's episode of MasterChef, the top 6 becomes the top 7 again when Bri re-enters the kitchen after beating out Bime for a white apron. Underneath the mystery box is a 16-ounce T-bone steak. The contestants are challenged with the task of cooking a dish that highlights this cut of meat. T-bone steaks are aptly named for the T-shaped bone in the center, which separates the fillet or tenderloin cut from the strip steak. read more

MasterChef Christine Ha's Recap: An Egg-cellent Twist

Bri and Gordon Ramsay

In this episode of MasterChef, the remaining six contestants won't be cooking. Judging from my Season 3 experiences, I don't take this as a good sign. Sure enough, past Season 4 contestants return to battle their way back into the MasterChef kitchen.  During my season, eight previously eliminated cooks returned, each handpicking an ingredient for their collective mystery box. This time, however, the judges have pre-selected which contestants would have a chance at re-earning a spot back in the competition...

MasterChef Christine Ha's Recap: Who's on a (Sushi) Roll?

Natasha

There are seven lucky cooks left on MasterChef.  Another humongous mystery box sits on the stage.  When it rises, we see the families of the remaining cooks.  Even I get misty-eyed at the reunions.  It's hard to be at MasterChef—you get up at different times every morning, not knowing what's going to happen that day, what you'll be challenged to do, who'll be going home.  You film long hours, and the whole time, you're sequestered...

MasterChef Christine Ha's Recap: That's the Way the Éclair Crumbles

Jordan, Jessie and Gordon Ramsay

This is the toughest MasterChef team challenge yet. The remaining eight contestants have to spend the night in the woods and, the next day, cook a restaurant quality meal using rustic, camping-grade equipment: one knife, a flint for starting fire, an iron skillet, and a single wooden spoon. Say what?

MasterChef Christine Ha's Recap: Sausages Are the Wurst!

Beth

There's only nine cooks left on MasterChef. Underneath this week's mystery box is something much less glamorous than Eva Longoria — it's a meat grinder. The remaining cooks are tasked to make a stunning sausage to be featured in an entree. There are all kinds of proteins — including tofu, which was what I'd been wishing for underneath a mystery box all last season because... read more

An all-new MasterChef returns this week with a gigantic mystery box.  The box raises, and out steps Eva Longoria. She picks the ingredients for the challenge, and there's pork tenderloin, shrimp, avocado, mango, corn, jalapeño, tomatillo, garlic, onion, Mexican chocolate—a clear homage to her Mexican roots...

MasterChef Christine Ha’s Recap: Blindfolds and Broken Dreams

Gordon Ramsay, Christine Ha

This week marks my return to the MasterChef kitchen...but this time, I'm on the other side as a guest judge.  I could feel the nervous energy on set, and it's such a relief to be standing next to Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianich instead of behind a station.
