Episode Synopsis: Hawkeye misses saying good-bye to Trapper before he leaves for home, but meets his replacement, Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell), who proves to be a worthy ally. Colonel: Robert A. Karnes. Sgt. Dale: Ted Zeigler. Gene Reynolds' direction won an Emmy, as did the editing by Fred W. Berger and Stanford Tischler. The script, by Everett Greenbaum, Jim Fritzell and Larry Gelbart, won a Writers Guild Award.

Premise: A beloved, multi-Emmy-winning series about Army surgeons cutting up amid the Korean War. 'War is hell. So is TV,' said Larry Gelbart, who developed the series for TV from the 1970 Robert Altman film. ' 'M*A*S*H' and the medium,' Gelbart added, 'were made for each other.'
