Premise:
Ian Somerhalder plays the legendary Marco Polo, a Venetian merchant who travels to China to witness the wonders of the Eastern world. Once there, Polo decides to stay and becomes an adviser to the emperor, Kublai Khan (Brian Dennehy), who sends him on several adventures as an ambassador and documentarian of the Mongol Empire.
