Premise: A lonely commercial artist invites a soap-opera actress and her little girl to move in to his Manhattan apartment. The series was born from a 1980 TV-movie called `Sidney Shorr,' but with a significant difference: In the movie, Sidney was openly gay; it was never mentioned in the sitcom.
